C. S. McCrossan, Inc., headquartered in Maple Grove, Minnesota, was established in 1956 by our Founders – Charles S. McCrossan (Charley) and his wife Helen. The company has since grown into one of the leading highway/heavy civil contractors in the upper Midwest.

Early Years

Charley began the Company focused primarily on road construction and paving. The Company quickly gained a reputation for quality workmanship, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety. These attributes helped secure several significant contracts, allowing the Company to expand its services and workforce.

Growth and Expansion

C. S. McCrossan diversified and grew to include a wide range of infrastructure projects, such as highways, bridges, freight and light rail, busways, airport runways, and land development. The Company was involved in many high-profile projects throughout the upper Midwest, contributing to the development of the region’s transportation infrastructure, and community improvements.

Technological Advancements

As time and technology have progressed, we have been recognized for adopting innovative technologies and practices in the construction industry. We have continued to invest in state-of-the-art equipment and software to enhance efficiency and promote environmental sustainability in project delivery.

Legacy and Leadership

The Company remains family-owned and is currently managed by the second generation. The Company’s core values — as developed by the Founders — of safety, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement are emphasized and actively supported by the family.

Charley McCrossan founded our company in 1956 with the idea that “A man is only as good as his word”.
